The Fifine BM88 is a premium boom microphone arm, which features a low profile design for an optimal view, unobstructed desk and on screen appearance. It comes in at a solid price point, has integrated cable management, a rotateble ball head which can both mount heavy microphones such as my SM7B and as well as cameras.
My favourite thing about it is the white colour finish the microphone arm comes in. It makes my gaming desk setup feel very cozy and also clean with the super neat cable-management.
Build & Unboxing
Starting things of with the unboxing, the Fifine BM88 comes in a rather compact and simple package. Inside we’re directly greeted with the microphone arm elements, a table clamp, allan key, microphone mount with adapter and instructions.
Setup and Cable Management
To setup the microphone arm you’ll need around 5 minutes, simply attach the table mount to your desired place (keeping the lengh of the arm in mind) and tighten it. Then simply slot in the arm assembly and use the included allan key tool to secure it. It doesn’t need a lot of tightening, as it relies on being slightly loose for the swivel feature.
Cable management is handled very elegantly by routing the microphone cable inside of the boom arm. Everything is then nicely consealed with the cover plates.
Finally we can attach the microphone ball head mount. This mount reminds me of Elgato’s mount system, which is a very easy and simple attachment method.
The final result
Once everything is setup we have a fantastic low profile arm setup. The biggest benefit of using this style of microphone arm is that you’ll have a much clearer view of your monitor, and for example when streaming your facecam isn’t covered by a traditional microphone arm.
The FIFINE BM88 makes your microphone float.
Overall the BM88 from Fifine provies a great, budget friendly option with a premium finish, for anyone looking for a sleek low profile microphone arm that has great cable management.
The arm also comes in black in case the white finish doesn’t match your setup. In total it can hold microphones up to 1.5kg, and has no problem holding my Shure SM-7B.
However, if there was one improvement area it’s the length of the arm. Coming in at 27.8 inches (706 mm) it’s quite compact, making it ideal for smaller desks, although not as much for large tables such as my standing desk. This required me to mount it at the front, instead of the side.
If you’re interested in the microphone arm, you can pick it up for around 60€ on Fifine’s Store.
