Valve Announces Limited-Edition White Steam Deck: Here’s What You Need to Know

Nearly three years after teasing the idea of a white Steam Deck, Valve has officially unveiled a limited-edition white version of its popular handheld gaming PC. Here’s everything you need to know about this sleek new model and how to get your hands on one.

Release Date and Price

The white Steam Deck OLED: Limited Edition will be available starting November 18th at 3 PM PT / 6 PM ET / 00:00 MEZ. Priced at $679/719€, it will be sold everywhere the Steam Deck is available, including Australia and the regions of Asia served by Komodo.

What’s Different?

Functionally, the white Steam Deck is identical to the 1TB OLED model. Valve confirmed:

“Steam Deck OLED: Limited Edition White has all the same specs as the Steam Deck OLED 1TB model, but in white and grey. It also comes with an exclusive white carrying case and white microfiber cleaning cloth.”

Essentially, you’re paying an extra $30 over the standard $649 1TB OLED model for the white colourway and exclusive accessories.

Availability

Valve is producing the white Steam Deck as a limited-edition model, with stock allocated proportionally across each region. Once it sells out, Valve has stated there won’t be any more.

Should You Get One?

The white Steam Deck isn’t a game-changer in terms of performance, but for fans of the handheld or collectors, its striking design and exclusivity make it a tempting option. Plus, the included accessories add an extra layer of value for those seeking a more unique Steam Deck experience.

While I still highly recommend the Steam Deck OLED for its robust library and ease of use, some buyers might lean toward the Asus ROG Ally X, thanks to its notable performance and better battery life. With the ability to dual-boot the Bazzite operating system, which mimics the Steam Deck experience, alongside Windows, it becomes a compelling alternative.

If you’ve been eyeing a 1TB OLED Steam Deck or just love the idea of owning a rare piece of gaming hardware, the white Steam Deck OLED might be worth considering—but don’t wait too long, as stock is sure to sell out quickly.

For more details, head to Steam on November 18th and secure yours before it’s gone for good!
